Lifting Shot Count: Based on Firmness, Area and Goals

Question: How is the number of shots for a lifting treatment decided?

Short answer

There is no fixed number of lifting shots; the number is set individually by considering skin firmness, the size of the treatment area and the result you hope for. At CELITA Clinic, objective measurement data such as AI skin analysis and ultrasound findings are used as a reference, and the depth and number of shots for each area are explained during the consultation. More shots do not mean proportionally greater results, and reactions vary from person to person.

Key points

  • Shot count considers firmness, area size and desired results together
  • Decided with reference to objective data such as AI skin analysis
  • Depth (cartridge or transducer) for each area is chosen at the same time
  • Non-surgical devices have limits for severe laxity
  • The final plan and cost are explained in the consultation

What is considered when deciding the number of shots?

The number of shots is decided mainly on three things: skin firmness, the size of the treatment area and the result you hope for.

Even with the same device, face size, degree of sagging, skin thickness and treatment areas differ from person to person, so the amount of energy needed differs. That is why someone else's shot count is hard to use as a standard for you.

At CELITA Clinic, these factors are considered together with objective data such as AI measurements to decide the number of shots, and setting priorities for 2 or 3 concerns first makes the plan more specific.

  • Skin firmness and degree of sagging
  • Treatment areas and their size
  • The result you want and your priorities
  • Skin thickness and the condition of each layer

What role do AI skin analysis and ultrasound checks play?

AI skin analysis and ultrasound checks record conditions that are hard to judge by eye alone and serve as reference data for deciding the number of shots and depth.

CELITA Clinic uses EVE V MUSE, which performs 3D facial imaging and AI analysis, and Sono Finder, a handheld ultrasound probe. During the visit, AI skin analysis takes about 10 minutes.

Ultherapy PRIME received FDA 510(k) clearance for viewing ultrasound images up to 8 mm beneath the skin with its DeepSEE transducer, used to check that the transducer is in good contact with the skin and at an appropriate treatment depth, for example avoiding bone.

How does the choice of depth relate to the number of shots?

In HIFU lifting, each cartridge or transducer has a fixed focal depth, so how many shots to use at which depth is decided together for each area.

Ultherapy PRIME's treatment focal depths are 1.5 mm, 3.0 mm and 4.5 mm, and the Shurink Universe Face cartridges come in 1.5, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.5 mm. Even with the same total number of shots, the plan differs depending on how shots are distributed across layers.

Because each device has a different set of depths, the shot count of one device is not transferred directly to another for comparison.

Does increasing the number of shots increase the effect?

Increasing the number of shots does not make results proportionally greater, and non-surgical devices have limits.

Papers explain that HIFU lifting is suited to mild to moderate skin laxity and that surgery should be considered for severe laxity or distinct neck bands. Reactions such as swelling, bruising and tenderness are commonly reported after HIFU treatment, so these possibilities are also taken into account.

At CELITA Clinic, the treatment and recovery period are explained during the consultation, and the cost, which varies by area, amount and number of sessions, is given as an amount including VAT.

Step by step

  1. After checking in on the 4th floor, cleanse your face to remove makeup and sunscreen.
  2. Your face is photographed and analyzed with AI skin analysis.
  3. If needed, the layers beneath the skin are checked with an ultrasound probe.
  4. In a consultation with a doctor, your priorities and expected results are clarified.
  5. You receive an explanation of the depth and number of shots for each area, the recovery period and the cost, and then decide whether to proceed.

FAQ

Can I just have the same number of shots as last time?

Skin firmness and condition can change over time, so it is a good idea to check again each time. If you have records of previous treatments, sharing them during the consultation helps with planning.

Can I decide the number of shots in advance when booking?

You can tell the clinic the treatment you want and your preferred date when booking, but the final number of shots is decided after the analysis and consultation on the day of your visit. You can ask questions in advance through the messenger channel.

How does the shot count work if I have both the face and neck treated?

When the treatment area becomes larger, the distribution of shots changes to match the area. The distribution for each area and the resulting cost are explained in detail during the consultation.
